General Summary
The Director of the Emergency Department provides clinical and administrative leadership in emergency medicine. This role ensures the alignment of departmental operations with the organization's vision, mission, and nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities

Participate and facilitate staff involvement in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making.

Oversee services provided to patients, ensuring quality and appropriateness of care.

Supervise and evaluate performance of personnel within the Emergency Services Department.

Coordinate nursing services with other healthcare disciplines.
-
Lead recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
-
Manage staffing and scheduling.
-
Ensure orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for staff.
-
Develop and monitor the department budget.
-
Foster a climate conducive to educational experiences for nursing and other students.

Maintain oversight of the hospital trauma program, ensuring compliance with state trauma designation requirements.

Ensure compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, CMS, state, local regulations, and internal policies.
